                         The Use of Trusts in Estate Planning                             Heather Flanagan, J.D., LL.M.


Heather Flanagan is a Senior Vice President and Wealth Director at PNC Wealth Management. She joined PNC Delaware Trust Company in April 2012 as the in-house tax and trust technical expert. She transitioned to PNC Wealth Management in September 2013 as a Senior Wealth Planner and became the Delaware Wealth Director in August 2015. Heather has over a decade of private practice and in-house counsel experience as a corporate and tax attorney and as a managing partner for a trusts and estates law firm in Florida.

Heather received her undergraduate degree with distinction from the University of Nebraska at Lincoln and her master’s degree from the University of California, Los Angeles. She earned her law degree cum laude from Creighton University School of Law and her Masters of Law in taxation (LLM) from the University of Florida. Heather is a member of the American Bar Association and the Pennsylvania Bar Association. She is a nationally recognized speaker and has also been quoted in the New York Times, Bloomberg and Barons. She has been published in local and national trade journals and is a frequent author of PNC white papers.

Heather's presentation is The Use of Trusts in Estate Planning. She will discuss reasons people choose to create trusts for themselves, tax purposes, their minor children, charities, special needs beneficiaries, multi-generation planning, and asset protection planning. She will touch on trust modification and explain the various types of trusts.
